Although this trip is by Jeep most of my desert travels to date have been conducted on a motorcycle, a BMW G650GS to be exact. We were spending a few nights at a place I found on one of my previous rides and upon returning from one day’s adventures we saw this bike sitting in the parking lot, I recognized it immediately: this is Thelma (Thelma’s rider is named Tiffany). Thelma is a BMW R80GS with somewhere around 250,000 miles on the clock, she has been across 6 continents and I think it’s fair to say is part of the reason why BMW’s GS motorcycles have such a strong reputation as the ultimate adventure bikes.
