Mad Dash to Nowhere

I decided to get a cabin in Escalante for the night and get some work done at the Outfitters the next day, wondering if I was going to bump into Peter again on his way past. It turned out that there was an interview opportunity for work and I would have to try to make it to a city with a TV studio. It turns out that Escalante is about equidistant from Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, and Grand Junction (the nearest cities I figured might have a studio), all about 5 hours away. As luck would have it showtime was about 5 hours away as well. With no time to spare I hopped on the bike and made for Salt Lake City where at least I had a friend whose shower I could use to get cleaned up. After a wild dash through the mountains to I-15 and an even wilder dash part-way up I-15 where the speed limit is 80mph I got the call that the studio in SLC was already booked. As I was halfway to SLC already I continued on, but taking route 89 up the Sevier Valley at a more leisurely pace. I need to be in NYC on Thursday so it’s time to park the bike for a bit anyways.
